Pawel is the owner of Salon Oko. His beginnings in hair styling originate in Royal Oak, Michigan, where he studied with world-renowned stylist Patti Barreault. After completing a two-year apprenticeship with Barreault, Pawel continued his education with a multitude of industry leaders including J Beverly Hills, Vidal Sassoon, and Kemon Academy. He then became recognized as a true hair artist, stylist, and industry expert, which afforded him a position as Education Director at Palazzolo Salon in 2004. This specific experience allowed Pawel to share his unique techniques and skills by mentoring fellow stylists and apprentices. His courses ranged from dry cutting to color and theory.

Pawel Jan was also fortunate enough to have studied with an industry innovator, the late John Sahag, and subsequently become a member of his education team. He has gone on to work with a multitude of artistic teams, including Kemon and J Beverly Hills. Pawel has also worked with a repertoire of prestigious clients through Neiman Marcus’ fashion events including Derek Lam, Christian Louboutin, and Carmen Marc Valvo. Today, Pawel is still as eager to continue his education and lengthen his list of accomplishments, which indubitably keeps him at the forefront of the industry.

Allie grew up in Philadelphia with a passion for beauty and a hands-on approach to everything she did. In 2017, she turned that passion into a career by graduating from the Jean Madeline Aveda Institute.

Dedicated to constantly improving her skills and knowledge, Allie became certified in Cinderella, Hot Heads, and Bellami extensions. She also obtained her balayage certification through L’Oreal and sharpened her balayage techniques under the guidance of National Board Certified Colorist; Christy Cosgrove in the Main Line area.

Allie’s commitment to education also led her to take classes from reputable hair stylists and complete an apprenticeship under Pawel Jan. In August 2022, she joined Salon Oko as a stylist and colorist.

Although Allie’s specialties lie in balayage, blonding, and extensions, she uses her vast knowledge and skills to bring her clients’ visions to life. Her dedication to her craft and commitment to providing excellent service make her a valuable asset to the salon and a sought-after stylist in the Philadelphia area.

Hector is a hair stylist with a unique background in professional salsa dancing. His passion for hair began when he started helping women style their hair for competitions in Puerto Rico. After switching from photography to cosmetology school, Hector discovered his talent for hair color, relying on his instincts and eye for mixing colors.

After graduation, Hector began working in editorial hair and continued to invest in his education. He took classes from renowned hair stylist Guy Tang and attended the Sexy Hair Academy in California. In pursuit of expanding his knowledge and skills, he went to the Redken school to learn about extensions.

In 2020, Hector moved to Philadelphia and worked in multiple salons before he found Salon Oko. With his extensive experience and training, he is well-equipped to provide a variety of hair services to his clients. His unique background in dance also adds an artistic flair to his work.

Catherine has been in the hair industry for more than four years. She specializes in balayage, highlights, and lived-in color. Her goal is to create the look of high-maintenance hair for low-maintenance clientele – meaning that you’ll leave her chair with luxurious hair that needs minimal upkeep. Catherine utilizes a variety of foiling techniques, strategically placing each foil to ensure a natural grow-out that will last for months.

Juaquin Cameron has been styling Philadelphia for 20 years. A lifelong artist in a variety of mediums, he has extensive experience in hairdressing and barbering, having served most recently as the Creative Director of Richard Nicholas in Rittenhouse before joining Salon OKO.

Over the years, Juaquin’s work has appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, InStyle, Inked and W magazines, as well as in both Paris and New York Fashion Week. He studied cosmetology at Paul Mitchell’s The School, under Gerard Scarpaci, and continued his education with Vidal Sassoon and Bumble and Bumble. In 2009, he was named Intercoiffure Mondial’s North American Hairdresser of the Year.

Juaquin’s experience covers all manner of hair texture and style, with a focus on precision haircutting and barbering. He aims to create natural, lived-in looks, the kind of wash-and-wear cuts that always appear freshly styled.

Outside of work, Juaquin can usually be found in the kitchen, applying his artistic sensibilities to cuisine from across the globe. He’s also an active home brewer who is passionate about all things fermentation. No matter what he does, Juaquin always strives to create something unique, stylish and beautiful.

Sherry’s journey in hairdressing began in high school, where she completed her cosmetology hours at a vocational tech program. Afterward, she pursued her cosmetology teacher’s license at Empire Beauty School, setting the foundation for a career spanning over 32 years. Her love for the craft remains as strong as ever, with a dedication to continual education that keeps her skills fresh and relevant.

While Sherry enjoys every aspect of hairdressing, she especially loves color and styling, creating looks that bring out each client’s individuality. Originally from the countryside, Sherry moved to the city 25 years ago, balancing her passion for hairstyling with a love for family time, travel, animals, beach outings, and biking. Her wealth of experience and genuine love for her work make each client’s visit an inspiring experience.

Mia grew up in South Jersey, where her lifelong passion for all things beauty began. From a young age, she set up a “salon” for her family and friends, sparking a love for hairstyling that has only grown stronger over time. With over 7 years of professional experience, Mia has dedicated her career to making her clients look and feel their best. She specializes in balayage, full color makeovers, and natural, lived-in color, but she enjoys offering a wide range of services from cutting and coloring to styling and hair transformations.

Mia’s love for beauty is just one aspect of her artistic appreciation. She has years of competitive dance experience, loves visiting art museums, watching new films, and attending concerts to enjoy live music. Mel is a skilled and passionate hairstylist who began her career just outside of New York City, training under Christine Gatto at the acclaimed Salon Gatto in Hoboken, NJ. With over 8 years of experience behind the chair, she has honed her craft with a focus on blonding and dimensional color, specializing in natural, sun-kissed looks that highlight each client’s unique features. Mel is also certified in hair extensions, offering customized options for added volume and length. Whether you’re looking for a subtle refresh or a bold transformation, she combines technical expertise with an artistic eye—and brings a warm, welcoming energy to every appointment.

Shell was born and raised in Philadelphia, where her passion for beauty and artistry began. After facing challenging family circumstances, she moved to Indonesia right before the pandemic. With resilience and optimism, Shell managed to graduate high school early, and at just 17, she returned to the U.S. on her own to pursue her dream career in hairstyling.

Shell completed her education at the Jean Madeline Aveda Institute, graduating in November 2021, and soon began her journey at Salon Oko. Her love for creative expression shines through in her work, as she brings her unique artistic vision to every client’s look.
